Una coppia in pensione dal 2019, ha trovato un modo per guadagnare un reddito extra e, soprattutto, aiutare gli animali in difficoltà in giro per le strade. La routine dei due, che vivono a New York negli Stati Uniti, è stata condivisa dalla figlia Christina Ha su TikTok ed è diventata rapidamente virale. Jaeshin Ha e la moglie Seo-Jun hanno conquistato il cuore di milioni di utenti in tutto il mondo dopo.

La coppia, che ha smesso di lavorare nel 2019, non ha ancora definito i piani per il futuro, ma ha iniziato a cucire maschere nel 2020. Stavano ancora cercando di capire come sarebbero state le loro giornate da lì in poi quando è iniziata la pandemia. In quel periodo, la figlia e il marito dovettero tornare a vivere con i genitori. Così l’intera famiglia ha continuato a creare maschere per alcuni mesi successivi. Poi un giorno, si sono imbattuti in un sacco di tessuto e iniziarono a pensare cosa avrebbero potuto farne.

Ed è qui che è nata l’idea: produrre cucce per gatti. Christina è cofondatrice di Meow Parlor, il primo cat cafè di New York, e presidente dell’organizzazione no-profit affiliata a Meow Parlor, Meow Parlor Cats, Inc. La famiglia ha sviluppato inizialmente quattro prototipi prima di arrivare alla fase finale. Per testare le cucce, è stato dato un modello a chi adottava gatti randagi. Il successo fu enorme, quindi la coppia di pensionati ha iniziato a produrre anche giocattoli per gatti. Di forme e dimensioni diverse, hanno continuato a testare ciò che sarebbe piaciuto di più ai felini.
@whiskstowhiskers It was nice to help someone else out and to do it gently – to ask if it was okay for us to help, to be able to take the time to walk them through what you are doing, and to be able to check in the next day to let them know the next steps. I get frustrated a lot, probably even more so than I did before. In the time we spent without interacting with people regularly, I forgot how to hide these emotions and I think other people did, too. So maybe the balance is to show compassion when you can. It made me feel better to be nice. And I’m sure our team felt it, too, and so did the cats and people involved. The owner asked me if they could pay for our help and I said no. I told them that as a nonprofit, people trust us to make these kinds of decisions so all the services were covered. We could have done this without your support. Thank you for letting us do a nice thing.
